Dr. Frank Bonilla Scholarship Fund

Dr. Frank Bonilla, Thomas Hunter Professor Emeritus, Hunter College of the City University of New York, devoted his life to understanding and exposing injustice and to struggle against racial and ethnic oppression, especially in education. The fruits of his labor are found in his contributions to social movements and the critique of governing elites in Latin America; in his pioneering research on the political economy of Puerto Rico and migration to the United States; and in his extensive contributions to collaborative research on Latinos in a globalizing economy.  He was the founding Director of the Center for Puerto Rican Studies. The Frank Bonilla Scholarship Fund supports the advancement of the field of Puerto Rican Studies in honor of his legacy.

The purpose of the Frank Bonilla Fellowship Fund program is to identify and select academically successful undergraduate students who express a strong interest in Puerto Rican studies. Frank Bonilla Fellows receive a $500 stipend.
