Roosevelt House is pleased to present "Out, Loud and Proud," an episode of the 2017 CNN Original Series Soundtracks, which explores American history through popular song. This film is a remarkably concise, yet thorough, lesson in LGBT history. In just 42 minutes, it covers everything from the 1969 Stonewall Riot to the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision to make marriage equality the law of the land. It features a remarkable group of experts: Urvashi Vaid, Barney Frank, Jason King, David Mixner, Kate Clinton, Anderson Cooper, Eliza Byard, and Richard Goldstein, along with Kurt Loder a panoply of artists including Rod Stewart, Boy George, David Bowie, Rufus Wainwright, Judy Garland, The Fifth Dimension, and Lady Gaga.

After the screening, Jason King, Jeff Dupre, and E. Donna Shepherd will discuss the film with moderator Charles Kaiser. Dupre was the executive producer of the film; Shepherd was the producer/editor; and King is one of the principal experts featured in the documentary. Kaiser is associate director of the LGBT Social Science and Public Policy Center, which is part of the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College.
